Dr. SubbaRao M GavaraVarapu

Principal Investigator

Dr. SubbaRao is head of the division of Nutrition Information Communication & Health Education (NICHE) and Scientist G at the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, India, is a communication expert with a focus on nutrition and food safety. His research explores the contextual factors shaping food environments; food labelling; front-of-pack-labels;social media and food behaviours; and infodemiology. His expertise shines a light on the ever-evolving complexities of making informed food choices by adolescents. Currently he is spearheading the e-dialogue series in the LFOF consortium which looks into shaping healthier food environments for adolescents.

Dr. Paromita Banerjee

Senior Project Manager

Dr. Paromita Banerjee is a nutrition researcher with a focus on nutrition communication strategies for prevention of metabolic syndrome with Workplace Intervention among IT employees. She has also dealt with m-health, infodemiology, connectivities between social media influence and food behaviours. She leads and manages the current project by collaborating with diverse stakeholders to facilitate E-dialogues & workshops. She is also involved in the development of nutrition education infographics, and scientific manuscripts along with the team.

Ms Ishani Ghotikar

Ms. Ishani Ghotikar

Project Manager

Ms Ishani Ghotikar is a Nutritionist with experience in public health nutrition and maternal and child health. She is a certified Sports Nutritionist from the Sports Authority of India - National Institute of Sports. Her experience in Content Writing combined with her interest in Nutrition Education enables her to manage the outreach of the Let’s Fix Our Foods project using social media and content development.

She believes in empowering youth with the right nutrition information to enable them to make the right choices for a healthy future.

Ms. Kanishka Upadhyay

Project Junior Research Fellow

Kanishka is a double post-graduate with a Master’s in Applied Nutrition from ICMR-NIN. A certified Food Safety Supervisor (FSSAI), her passion lies in Public health nutrition, with her research focusing on how to nudge Indian urban adolescents towards healthier food choices. She’s a skilled content writer and social media whiz, currently creating content and managing social media for the LFOF project. Her well-rounded approach to nutrition education even shines through her co-authorship of a soon-to-be-published children’s book, “365 Food Rhymes”.

Mrs. Bhavani

Project Programmer

Bhavani has over three years of experience in full-stack development, specialising in the MERN stack and SQL for dynamic web applications, and effective database management. This solid foundation allows her to deliver robust and scalable solutions to complex problems across both frontend and backend technologies. Additionally, her previous involvement in developing websites for different nutrition projects has honed her skills in delivering impactful solutions.

Now, as a project programmer with the LFOF project, she is eager to leverage her skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to shaping healthier food environments for adolescents.
